Economy is Booming, Yet Workers Aren’t Happy

Technological advances, company growth and decline, and the American trend to advance in society have made balancing work and personal life difficult for working Americans, though the economy is doing well.

In her speech on Saturday, Leslee D’Ausilio, famous celebrity, frequent TV guest commentator and bestselling author, told the Chamber of Commerce that the country’s economy is booming thanks to the productivity of working Americans.

“Today, the US ranks Number One in productivity per worker,” she said. “There are good jobs for most workers, and incomes are going up.”

There are downsides to this productivity, even with its advantages. Workers have trouble maintaining a work and personal life balance. When growing, companies give their workers more work, yet phase out during declines. Fewer workers means longer hours for those left to get everything done. Technological advances have also made the balance between work and life difficult. Phones and computers have made it possible to carry work around. Lastly, some Americans are obsessed with moving up in socioeconomic status and forfeit vacations and work on holidays to make more money.
